Immaculate Conception Cathedral School senior Georgette Redmond was named last week to The Commercial Appeal's Academic All-Star list, bringing to six the number of ICCS students receiving this distinction for the 2014-15 academic year. Private and public high school seniors in the Memphis metropolitan area are eligible for this honor through a nomination process at their respective schools. Candidates' qualifications are reviewed by a panel of local college admissions professionals and honorees are selected based on academic achievement, community service and leadership.
Georgette is a top student and leader. She holds a
4.42 weighted grade point average while taking almost every Honors and
AP class the school offers. A consistent member of the Honor Roll, she
was elected vice president of the National Honor Society this year as
well as president of Mu Alpha Theta, the math honor society. She has
been on the board of Bridge Builders the past two years and was elected
vice president of the Leadership Board this year. She was appointed Best
Delegate in the People to People Ambassador Program and was selected as
one of 24 Memphians to be a part of the UT Summer Science Institute.
She also is in the National Society of High School Scholars.
Active throughout the campus, Georgette was selected as a Student
Ambassador. She is a member of the basketball team and served as captain
last year. She is the Student Government Association Commissioner of
Publicity and a Community Building Group Leader. She volunteers at
Cummings Street Missionary Baptist Church, Dorothy Day House, Mid-South
Food Bank and St. Vincent DePaul Food Mission.
