Two ICCS Seniors Named Commercial Appeal Academic All-Stars

ICCS Seniors Selena Foster and MarNique Turner have been named this month as Academic All-Stars by The Commercial Appeal newspaper in the respective categories of General Scholarship and Foreign Language. The All-Stars program was designed to identify and recognize outstanding high school students in the Memphis metro area for excellence in academics, leadership and community service.

Selena has taken a solid AP and Honors track of study and holds a 4.60 weighted grade point average.  She has earned Summa Cum Laude Honor Roll each year of high school and is a member of the National Honor Society. She has received the UTCHS Science Summer Institute Certificate of Achievement in Honors Biology and been part of the math and Spanish Duke Tip Program.  While studies are obviously a priority, community service is high on Selena's activity list.  She has volunteered with several charitable organizations including the Dorothy Day House, Mid-South Food Bank and area food kitchens.  She has been a leader for school retreats, volunteers to clean up trash at McKellar Lake and assists the Advancement Office during the school's annual phonathon.  Selena is a member of the National Beta Club as well the ICCS track team.  She is also an altar server for St. John Catholic Church.

A dedicated French student, MarNique holds a 4.53 weighted grade point average, which includes a 99 average in Dual-Enrollment French through Christian Brothers University.  As co-president of the French Club, she works tirelessly to raise money for the Club's Haiti Mission Project.  She is a member of the Delta Gems, an organization that works to empower young women by developing their leadership skills.  MarNique is a member of the National Beta Club and serves as historian for the Marian Chapter of the National Honor Society. She was junior class president and currently serves as the commissioner of school and community activities.  She is a three-year member of Bridge Builders and is a player on the ICCS tennis team.  MarNique was also selected by the Teenteer Volunteer Program to serve at Regional One Health Center.
